Paul Smith for Evian. Beautiful bottle design, inspiring guy, makes me want to bounce around the room. [via ArtSchoolVets]
Wonderful George Perec quote via Russell Davies.
For my back pocket.: Last October, I looked everywhere on the Internet for this picture. I wanted to be the photograph for Halloween, since I have a very similar shirt (my Dad’s from the 70s; only difference is his isn’t lace-up. ha.). I typed every combination of “safari,” “yves saint laurent,” “rifle,” “fashion,” and “1960s” into Google that you can imagine… to no avail. I just didn’t know HER name. Now I do, courtesy of the Metropolitan’s Costume Institute’s current “Model as Muse” exhibit that I saw a few weeks ago. Thank you, Met, thank you, Veruschka, thank you, Franco Rubartelli.

Beautiful and inspiring video of Emily Haines escaping to Buenos Aires to write Metric’s new album (which I downloaded last week and it’s super; It was only $6.99 on Amazon… take advantage of that tiered pricing before it goes up).

Urg, this is a Rise Against lyric, apparently. No matter, it’s inspiring. Reminds me a bit of Takeo Fukui’s “kicking the ladder out from under yourself” mantra @ Honda.
I’ve been online friends with Aly for years and years… since some time in the early 2000s. She never fails to inspire: all I need to do is visit her blog, marmunia. It shows a combination of her beautiful mind and talent for art. She lives in Seattle… hope we get to meet one day.

“I plunked down at home with a stack of books, a pencil to make notes, and a cup of licorice tea.”
I was browsing my Flickr friends’ recent uploads, and came across this picture. That – and a sudden impetus to organize – inspired me to gather all the books strewn about my room.
From top to bottom:
- A Holga book I got with my starter kit (used it for reference – the photo guy printed my last 2 rolls 6 x 4.5 and I was mad, mad, mad)
- Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs (Alex gave this to me when she fake-moved back to Paris… I don’t even know what it’s about but I like the title and cover art)
- The Savage Detectives (lovely, blogged here)
- Outliers (Christmas gift from Anacardo, so excited to read!)
- My D40 manual (exploring different shooting modes)
- Buying In (good, never finished it though)
- Renaissance – an Illustrated Encyclopaedia (a Valentine’s gift from Anacardo, it’s beautiful & I wrote about it here)
