I try to always put things into situational perspective to keep myself in check. Sometimes I slip, though. I just saw this picture in Activate:
When I saw the caption: “French commuters wait for a train in Paris during a nationwide strike.” my gut instinct was, “That’s the L at Bedford every single morning.” Realizing that this may be extreme for Paris, though (as something routine probably doesn’t make it as the main image of a news email), I asked my friend Alex (who is originally from Paris) about the train platforms over there. She told me that platforms aren’t usually very crowded at all in Paris; this transit strike must have been quite the ordeal. My sympathies.
