Kaffeeklatsch

Okay, this is my new favorite word. Everyone knows by now that I love the “words in other languages that mean entire thoughts, instances or feelings” thing. Well, I just found another one! It was in this article about Likemind (also, I’m in the picture; see me?).

kaf·fee·klatsch

Pronunciation: \ˈkȯ-fē-ˌklach, ˈkä-fē-, -ˌkläch, -ˌkləch\
Function: noun
Usage: often capitalized
Etymology: German, from Kaffee coffee + Klatsch gossip
Date: 1888

: an informal social gathering for coffee and conversation

EDIT [26 October] - I wrote to my father about this word, and he said: that’s what women engaged in on cold, rainy Saturday afternoons … I guess the word takes on a new meaning … (“klatsch” means yada - yada - yada ………. etc. … mostly gossip :-))
