Close call.
Anacardo text messaged me telling me that Obama was walking. I went to CNN.com and was confronted with this: Aw, come on, guys! You had plenty of time to prepare your servers. Television pulled through though: thank goodness the whole thing was being projected live downstairs. There were tears. Let’s do this.

Daydreaming
I am drowning in work today. Designer Drugs remixing Freezepop’s Frontload helps, though. Goes well with these. [listen to the Freezepop remix on Big Stereo]

My mood, today.
It has been snowing in New York more frequently than I remember. Granted, this is only the 4th winter I’ve seen here. But still. I love it. 1. Frosty Amsterdam, 2. Morning Routine, 3. Tiempo para un te - Time for a tea, 4. you do not belong here anymore, 5. Café Konkret, 6. Just the right place to cozy up and read, 7. cozy cove, 8. Dread Spread 1, 9. Sakura last days here…

Warm feet, finally.
It’s been colder than usual here (between 5 and 18°F for a few days in a row). I had been looking for warm boots for weeks, but couldn’t find something in my size that wasn’t ugly. I finally got so fed up (and cold) that I got glorified duck boots. A few days earlier, I got some silly-looking indoor slippers from Urban Outfitters. They have fleece inside! My toes:...

Lentil soup.
I am not someone who knows how to cook; I have somehow made it this long without cooking anything impressive except for pad thai and scrambled eggs (I owe the latter to Leila). Since I got a knife sharpener and cutting boards for Christmas, I decided that now was as good a time as any. Anacardo’s parents sent me a bag of lentils from a co-op in Vermont, and a few days ago I coincidentally...

Thimbles in the frost
Amazing how some things stick with you. It is snowing a very pretty type of snow at the moment; I looked out onto one of the terraces and watched it coat the wooden planks and float around the naked trees. I pressed my nose right up against the window, and it fogged up a little. I remembered a line I read in a Little House on the Prairie book when I was 7 or 8; there was snow outside, and the...

The colors of fire.
I was going through the notepad items in my BlackBerry, and found one called ELAIC. Then I remembered it was for quoting pretty things from Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, since the book wasn’t mine and I couldn’t write in it (as is my wont). Here are two: orange and blue explosions, violet and white I threw myself into the nearest cellar, it was hit, it filled with pink smoke...

Hackers factual errors
Just reading the goofs section for Hackers in IMDB. These two are my favorite: In the scene when Acid is showing-off her laptop, they speak of the laptop having a processor called a P6 and a PCI bus. Further examination of this scene and another scene with them looking over the damaged code, the laptop that Acid-burn has is clearly a Macintosh Powerbook 280C (sub-notebook) made by Apple Computer...

oh nine.
Boy and I went to see Blonde Redhead. Islands opened, and put on the best show I may have ever seen from an opening band. I never got antsy or bored or hoping their set would end. Blonde Redhead were beautiful as always. Except Amadeo lost his voice in the first quarter of their set, so Kazu (part 1) sang the rest of the time. That was still nice, but it affected the set list (no Falling...
